The KIIT School of Economics and Commerce (KSEC) successfully organized a Classroom Immersion Programme in collaboration with The City University of New York (CUNY), held on 6 th -7 th August 2025 at the KSEC Auditorium, Campus 3, KIIT Deemed to be University.
Prof. (Dr.) Sukanta Chandra Swain, Dean of KSEC, welcomed a four-member delegation from CUNY, consisting of Prof. Peter Kolozi, Prof. Efstathia Korkou, Ms. Alexandra Campbell, and Mr. Kantchilsoe Kolani. During a brief meeting with the KSEC Leadership, Dr. Saswat Kishore Mishra, Associate Dean of KSEC, apprised the delegation with an overview of the School’s academic programs and extracurricular activities. Additionally, Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, Associate Dean for Industry Engagement at KSEC, discussed existing industry-academia collaborations and potential opportunities for further partnership with CUNY.
Prof. Kolozi deliberated on the US economic and political dynamics, examining tariff policies on India in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and global crude oil trade, highlighting government intervention, state influence on national development, and taxation as a critical policy tool. Prof. Efstathia Korkou emphasized the crucial role of interdisciplinarity in tackling the global socio- economic issues. Further, Ms. Campbell and Mr. Kolani stressed the importance of student self-optimization through effective communication, collaboration, and networking.
The interactive sessions were coordinated by Dr. Queen Sarkar (Assistant Professor of Communication, KSEC) and Dr. Tulasi Malini Maharatha (Assistant Professor of Economics, KSEC). The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation of 150 students, who engaged in insightful discussions and academic exchange with esteemed professors and professionals from CUNY.
