On 30th July 2025, KIIT Deemed to be University’s National Service Scheme (NSS), in collaboration with the School of Economics and Commerce (KSEC) and the School of Electronics Engineering (KSOEE), successfully organized the “Sashakt – Women Safety and Empowerment” program, a successful fusion of academic discourse and cultural expression. The programme, which witnessed the participation of over 300 students, was graced by esteemed guests, including Ms. Sonali Parmer (I.P.S.) as the Chief Guest and Prof. Krishna Chakraborty (Dean of KSAC and Member of ICC, KIIT-DU) as the Guest of Honor.

Under the guiding inspiration of Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble Founder of KIIT & KISS, the program aimed to foster a culture of inclusivity and empowerment. Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the program’s significance. Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, Program Coordinator, emphasized the importance of equal opportunities for women, citing examples of global excellence.

Dr. Saswat Kishore Mishra, Associate Dean, KSEC, stressed the need for collective efforts to create a society where women can live without fear, thrive, and reach their full potential. He acknowledged KIIT & KISS’s initiatives, such as Nanhi Pari and Kanya Kiran, which champion women’s empowerment and safety.

Ms. Sonali Parmer (I.P.S.) inspired students to be fearless, confident, and aware of their rights, encouraging boys to be active allies in creating a safer environment for women. Prof. Krishna Chakraborty (Dean of KSAC and Member of ICC, KIIT-DU) delivered an informative session on sexual harassment, highlighting legal provisions and rights.

The program’s cultural segment was a highlight, featuring a captivating blend of performances: a mesmerizing semi-classical dance, a thought-provoking street play “Nukkad” on women’s issues, a soulful solo song, and an energetic freestyle dance by NSS volunteers. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prasanta Kumar Patra, Program Officer, KSOEE, KIIT-DU.
